Ghostface Killah Touring New Zealand in June 2012

Ghostface Killah (Wu-Tang Clan, Theodore Unit, US) & @Peace (Auckland)

Touring New Zealand in June 2012

La De Da, MAZDEF Productions & Dirty Ol Knights is proud to present . . . LA DE HIP HOP, featuring Ghostface Killah of the Wu-Tang Clan and special guests, Auckland's @Peace.

Blessed with a journalistic eye for detail, black humor, and the soul of a poet Ghostface Killah, Staten Island, New York's very own, is one of the most celebrated hip-hop lyricists of all time. A prominent member of The Wu-Tang Clan, since 1992 Ghostface has distinguished himself through several clips worth of hymns to street life lived hard and fast.

Executive producer on all of The Wu-Tang Clan releases, including many of their various solo projects. Ghostface Killah stepped out solo with the stone cold classic Ironman in 1996. He has continued his success over the following years with well loved records such as Supreme Clientele and Fishscale. Along the way, Ghostface has collaborated with DOOM, Amy Winehouse, Redman, Mobb Deep and Mary J Blige amongst other luminaries, collecting a choice selection of pseudonyms in the process. Ghost, Tony Starks and Pretty Toney, the list goes on.

On stages across the globe, his urgent delivery, dense fascinating slang, raw jokes and emotive stream-of consciousness-narratives have delighted audiences for two decades. This June, Ghostface Killah embarks on his second ever New Zealand tour, taking in debut performances in Wellington and Christchurch. This is a rare opportunity to witness the talent described by Q Magazine as, "one of raps finest storytellers" and praised by MTV and About.com as one of the greatest MCs of our era.

Bringing a touring party which includes legendary Wu-Tang affiliate Killah Priest, Ghostface and friends will be playing tracks from all his eight studio albums, plus all the anthems you know and love from The Wu-Tang Clan catalogue.

At the Wellington and Christchurch shows, Ghostface will be accompanied by acclaimed local hip-hop group @Peace. With their debut album described by PublicAddress.net's Russell Brown as, "...one of the better albums to come out of this country, ever," and a string of sold-out shows around the country under their belt, @Peace offer the perfect set-up to what The RZA has called "[the display of] ferocious mic technique, emotional dramatics...[and] bizarre impenetrable language," that is Ghostface Killah. Ghostface Killah, knowumsayin', he on some now you see me now you don't.
