Bears go pink for Breast Cancer

Bears go pink for Breast Cancer

On June 23rd the Glenora Bears will don pink shirts in support of the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation when they play against long time rivals the Mount Albert Lions at Harold Moody Park.

Ask any of the players and they will jokingly say they wish they were playing any team other than Mount Albert on the day they’ll be wearing pink, but they are shirts that will be worn with pride by the Glenora team as the community based league club do their best to support the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation. Glenora League Club want to give something back to the community to acknowledge all the hard work and support we all get from the women in our lives, whether they are our mums, our grandmothers, our daughters, our aunties, our sisters, our cousins or our friends. We know no matter how hard the training session or the game, how painful the knocks we take are, or how much flack we get for what colour shirt we wear, it is nothing compared to the turmoil breast cancer creates for women and their families.

On June 23rd Glenora League Club will try to fill Harold Moody Park in attempt to get as much support possible for this cause which affects the lives of so many. Throughout the day there will be quick fire raffles, sausage sizzles, lolly scrambles and of course the league matches. That night there is a ticketed event at Glenora League Club where there will be a hangi, raffles, and other entertainment throughout the night. All proceeds from this event are going to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
