New Dance Theatre from a promising new voice in New Zealand

PRESS RELEASE 12th June 2012

“A prophetic fantasy set within a post apocalyptic landscape.”

Sascha Perfect presents

CHIMERA
New Dance Theatre from a promising new voice in New Zealand dance.

Sascha Perfect returns to New Zealand from Ireland and Serbia to present her new work Chimera. It will be the first time Wellington audiences get to experience Perfect's Body Weather inspired dance theatre. Body Weather is a movement training coming out of Japanese Butoh dance. Perfect was mentored while in Europe by Frank Van De Ven who was part of Min Tanaka's Maijuku Performance Company in Japan.

In Chimera the audience will experience a non-rational world where bodies shape shift from human to animal. As time unfolds backwards, death enfolds life, allowing it to merge with the spiritual. Live music and vocals combine with a rich theatrical palette to create an atmospheric setting.

“Chimera is meditative dance theatre with a touch of the shamanistic. Inspired by the paintings of Martin Whittfooth.” Sascha Perfect – Director of Chimera
