A day on the green - Kiwi Summer Edition

Media Release - Wednesday 11th July

a day on the green KIWI SUMMER EDITION with The Black Seeds, Fly My Pretties and the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra!

Long established as one of New Zealand's finest bands, Wellington reggae soul-heavyweights The Black Seeds are set to heat up the crowd at a day on the green!

Described by Rolling Stone as "The Best Reggae band in the world right now" The Black Seeds infuse their incredible live show with raw energy and good vibes wherever they go, fuelling multi-platinum sales and a fast growing worldwide following.

With their acclaimed latest offering ‘Dust and Dirt’ having just debuted at no 1 in the NZ album charts, The Black Seeds bring their legendary 8-piece live show to a day on the green for the first time in December.
Since Fly My Pretties’ inception in 2004, the collective has grown to become a local legend of music, renowned for their boundary pushing stage shows.

Following the release of their latest album Fly My Pretties IV – a live recording of the sold out 2011 tour, a Best Of version of the collective are uniting to play three special dates for a day on the green’s kiwi summer edition.

A rotating collective of musicians with an ethos of mixing well-known performers with emerging talent; the latest lineup will billow to a 20-strong cast that will showcase past members from all four incarnations with a few surprising additions. With such a range of musicians, audiences will be treated to a truly career spanning set. Stay tuned for the full cast announcement!
The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra has become one of New Zealand’s most beloved live acts, garnering a cult following and causing a mad scramble for tickets wherever they go.

Their live shows feature blazing solos, stunning dress sense, sparkling harmonies and spontaneous comic banter as they lovingly reinterpret hit songs from across the musical generations. Their not-to-be-missed stage show is a contemporary twist on the classic New Zealand show-band tradition, harking back to the heady days of 1950s dancehall orchestras.

With four high-selling CDs under their belts and numerous festival appearances at home and abroad, the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra have collaborated with many of the greats of New Zealand’s music scene. Their members are drawn from all corners of the musical spectrum. Let them entertain you when they open for a day on the green this December!
