Wood and Emery Continue GMR's Fine Bathurst Form

Wood and Emery Continue GMR's Fine Bathurst Form

The Mountain has delivered the best result of the year for the Greg Murphy Racing team, with both drivers finishing in the top ten in each race in round five of the Dunlop V8 Supercars Development Series.

Dale Wood showed consistent pace throughout the weekend in the GB Galvanising / Wilson Technology / Hi Tec Oils Commodore and started race two from the second row of the grid after his stellar fourth place in race one. Geoff Emery launched the R & J Batteries / Earthex / WURTH car from ninth position and the start was a clean one.

Aaron McGill took a trip off the bitumen and just managed to get back on track as Michael Hector charged into the wall at the top of the mountain triggering the deployment of the safety car for one lap.

The restart was as clean as the race start, as the cars powered up Mountain Straight. Emery lost a few places to Jones and Walsh, but climbed back over Walsh on the next lap.

Wood was straight back on the pace as his car really came on over the course of the race, eventually finding himself right on the tail of fellow privateer racer Luke Youlden battling for fourth place.

With the battle for the lead between Percat, Mostert and Pye going down to the wire, Wood came home in fifth place, whilst Emery held on to his top ten spot.

Wood finished the round in equal fourth place, Emery in ninth, improving their championship standings to ninth and 11th respectively.

"It's been a good weekend overall, our most competitive weekend so far," Wood said.

"I had plenty of seat time in both the GMR car and in the main game over the weekend, and any laps you can do around Mount Panorama are a bonus.

"The car was really consistent in both races and looked after its tyres well, so I was able to catch the cars in front towards the end of each race."

"We tuned the car over the course of the weekend and it became better and better each time we headed out," Emery added.

"We analysed a lot of data after each session and I found I was able to improve my driving technique as well."

The Dunlop V8 Supercar Development Series now has a month break until heading to GMR's test track, Winton Raceway, for round six of the championship, November 16-18.
