Square
Aotea Square is taking the everyday ‘living room’ to the next level. The Waitemata Local Board and Auckland Council's Public Art Team have transformed the city’s square into a stage of fresh creativity and mesmerizing performances. Drawing on the theme of ‘transformation’, award-winning choreographer and curator Mary Jane O’Reilly has assembled an interactive and fun event for everyone, including BMX bikes, Kapa Haka performances, hip hop dancers, video installations and more.
The Art of Fashion

Enjoy art kick up its heels, as New Zealand artists dress up the windows of several fashion houses around Auckland’s BIG little City. Top fashion designers Kate Sylvester, World and Zambesi have been paired with the likes of esteemed artists Karl Maughn, Reuben Paterson and Dale Frank to reflect the aesthetics of each creative practice. Prepare to be delighted as you wander the streets and take part in the art of ‘window shopping’ at its best!

Pop Art icon, Andy Warhol, will take over Queen Elizabeth Square for Art Week. Resene has donated nearly 4,000 test pots to re-create the famous Warhol work of Marilyn Munroe on canvas. Just a Wee Drop signifies the contemporary talent of such Auckland artists, and this stunning mural illustrates why Stewart and his TMD crew are at the forefront of the global street art scene.
Mid-City Thinking - Askew One, Elliot Frances Stewart & Gary Silipa
Askew One, Elliot Frances Stewart & Gary Silipa have been commissioned by Heart of the City to create a spectacular street art mural. This work infuses life and energy into the heart of the central city. Titled Mid-City Thinking, the mural is about thinking outside the box and going forward with an open mind, as you pass through a state of transition.

Art Project

Quarter
Five of Auckland’s most esteemed artists including graffiti artist Askew One, will decorate the walls of the large Tanks in the Tank Farm transforming them into one of the city’s largest art installations. The creative concepts for the tanks will be inspired by C.K Stead’s uplifting poem “Auckland”. Stage one commences during Art Week in the BIG little City.
