More prizes to celebrate WOW’s 25th birthday

To mark the 25th anniversary of World of WearableArt (WOW) Awards Show in 2013, there will be more awards, a greater prize pool and a new section category.

WOW CEO Meg Matthews says the new incentives for the world’s designers are just one element of what will be a significant 25th show.

“Plans are underway for a spectacular show next year, and we are pleased to announce we have increased our prize pool to $165,000, with 39 awards now on offer to aspiring designers,” Matthews says. “We also have a new category, the Weta Workshop Costume & Film Section: The Crazy Curiosities of the Creature Carnival, which you can imagine will be incredible! Included in the prize will be a one month internship with Weta Workshop, accommodation and flights from anywhere in the world.”

Meanwhile, Matthews says that at 25 years young WOW has come of age, and it has been agreed that next year is the right time for the World of WearableArt (WOW) Awards Show to no longer have a naming rights show sponsor. However the heritage of the strong partnership of over 18 years between Brancott Estate and WOW will continue, as Brancott Estate remains a major partner within WOW’s family of partners and the Supreme WOW Award sponsor.

Pernod Ricard New Zealand Managing Director, Fabian Partigliani, says Brancott Estate is proud to confirm it will be a major sponsor of the World of WearableArt (WOW) Awards Show for the next three years as well as naming rights sponsor of the 2013 Brancott Estate Supreme WOW Award.

"The World of WearableArt and Brancott Estate continue to share common values, which is why we proudly continue this long-standing partnership,” Partigliani says.

"Both brands continue to push the boundaries of innovation and creativity and we’re excited to continue as a key sponsor and major partner of this unique event. We look forward to working closely with the World of WearableArt team to further broaden the event's appeal both in New Zealand and internationally."

The World of WearableArt Awards Show is an iconic event that has been described as exemplifying New Zealand at its creative, innovative best.

“WOW is world class and is unquestionably regarded as one of the most successful performance shows in the country, and we certainly have Brancott Estate to thank for helping towards our success,” Matthews says.

“Brancott Estate and WOW have been a great team for more than 18 years, and we feel honoured to have their continued support, along with our other major partners, as we head into our 25th Show.”
