Bartlett comes into Aces 13

MEDIA RELEASE

Friday, 11 January 2013

Dean Bartlett will join the Auckland Aces on their trip to Rangiora to face the Canterbury Wizards in a game they must win if they are to have any chance of making an HRV Cup semi-final.

Bartlett comes in to replace Kyle Mills who departs for South Africa for the Blackcaps one day series.

After their loss to the Stags in the last round the Aces are now in the position of having to win their two remaining games and hoping that one of the sides above them trips up twice in their last two games.

It’s not a scenario that a side wants to find themselves in but coach Paul Strang is making sure that his team is focusing on their own job ahead of Sunday’s match.

“What everyone else does is irrelevant if we don’t make sure of our part of the equation so we’ve been concentrating totally on our performance and what we can do to get another win on Sunday.”

Despite the last round loss to the Stags Strang is confident that the Aces can bounce back against the Wizards.

“It’s been the small things that have been hurting us. That’s annoying but it’s hopefully something that’s easy to turn around, and we feel that we’ve done the preparation to make sure that we put together a more complete performance and get the win."

The 13 from which a team will be named for Sunday’s game is as follows:

Gareth Hopkins (Captain) (Parnell)
Andre Adams (Overseas professional)
Dean Bartlett (Ellerslie)
Michael Bates (Suburbs New Lynn)
Craig Cachopa (Takapuna)
Colin de Grandhomme (Howick Pakuranga)
Donovan Grobbelaar (Howick Pakuranga)
Anaru Kitchen (Waitakere City)
Phil Mustard (Overseas professional)
Matt Quinn (Cornwall)
Bhupinder Singh (Papatoetoe)
Lou Vincent (Takapuna)
Reece Young (Suburbs New Lynn)
