Jazz concert with a twist raises funds for Hospice

Jazz concert with a twist raises funds for Hospice West Auckland

Funeral homes aren’t generally associated with uplifting outdoor concerts, but this is precisely what Davis Funerals are offering with ‘Jazz in the Vines’, their third annual jazz concert held in the pretty winery garden behind their welcoming building at 150 Central Park Drive.

On Sunday 17 February between 2 and 5pm a jazz concert with a twist is being held in Henderson.

In 2012 the popular show was almost sold out as people came from all over Auckland to enjoy the live band and experience a ‘behind-the-scenes’ glimpse of the picturesque and unusual venue. The sunny garden reflects the viticulture of the area and looks and feels like a Tuscan winery experience.

Singer Leza Corban will perform with her live band. Leza has had a prolific career as a studio session artist, singing on countless jingles and tracks by New Zealand artists. She became a Strawpeople collaborator and her vocals on the haunting APRA Silver Scroll winning track ‘Sweet Disorder’ won her the ear of the industry and a place in the CD collections of thousands of kiwis. Leza has gone on to feature at Christmas in the Park and Starlight Symphonies.

Leza currently performs in the band UNION, DJs, and sings a little sultry jazz around town. She is a proud supporter of Hospice, and she has a huge fan base in West Auckland.

Tickets are essential and can be purchased for just $20 from Davis Funerals. Tickets may be purchased by calling (09) 835 3557, or by emailing Henderson@davisfunerals.co.nz. Tickets include complimentary tea and coffee.

Audience members are welcome to bring a picnic rug, a few snacks and a bottle of wine. Alternatively, delicious delicatessen platters and local wine can be purchased on the day.

All funds raised at Jazz in the Vines go to Hospice West Auckland. Proceeds from community fundraising events enable Hospice West Auckland to provide specialist end of life care at no cost to people in need.
