Darci Collects Trentham Group 2

Darci Collects Trentham Group 2

Exciting Darci Brahma filly Recite gave her sire a huge boost ahead of Karaka 2013 when winning the $85,000 Group 2 Little Avondale Stud Wakefield Challenge Stakes (1200m) at Trentham on Saturday.

Trained by John Bary for her owner The Oaks Stud, Recite (ex Chant) produced a brilliant performance in just her second race start winning the Group 2 by two lengths and breaking 1.10 for the 1200 metre trip.

Recite is now set to head to Group 2 Matamata Breeders Stakes in the middle of February, a race that Karaka graduates have a great record in recent years with Rollout the Carpet (Holy Roman Emperor), Banchee (Oratorio) and Te Akau Rose (Thorn Park) all winning in the last four years.

Bred & offered: The Oaks Stud - 2012 Karaka Premier Sale.

Meanwhile Karaka Million rival – Anthony Freedman’s filly Minaj (Commands) – has arrived in the country and will have her first look at the Ellerslie track this week ahead of Sunday’s race, a tactic that worked perfectly for last year’s winner Ockham's Razor (Any Suggestion) from the same stable. She is scheduled to take to the Ellerslie track at 7am tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.

Tune into Radio Trackside at 11:45am on Wednesday morning for the live barrier draw. To view the order of entry, click here.

Tickets to the Karaka Million are now on sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
