Vortex Racewear Launches New Fia Product Range With Jmr V8 Supertourers Partnership

New Zealand motorsport clothing retailer Vortex Racewear will support John McIntyre and his JMR team for the 2013 V8 SuperTourers season.

The Pukekohe-based company will use the partnership to promote their new range of FIA approved products through McIntyre's multiple New Zealand V8 Champion team.

Vortex has signalled an intention to increase its market presence with a new FIA range including 2 Layer and super-lightweight 3 Layer race suits, nomex underwear kits, balaclavas, racing gloves & boots, and both saloon & open wheel race harnesses.

“Partnering with John McIntyre Racing is the perfect platform to promote our new FIA range, as well as our extensive existing range of SFI products that have become popular in the local market in recent years,” explains Vortex Racewear Sales Director Richard Lester.

Lester, part of the Lester Manfeild dynasty and an acclaimed former racing driver and International Race Coach, formed Vortex Racewear in 2011 alongside son Jono (a PETRONAS Mercedes-Benz Japanese GT driver) when the pair felt the local market needed a brand that was more affordable to club and lower level competitors.

“Back then, you had very little choice other than to spend the big bucks, even if you were only seeking a basic single layer suit for your dirt track car,” Lester says.

“That’s where Vortex was born, and we have ensured to continue our ethos of quality at an affordable price with our new FIA products.”

Vortex 2 Layer FIA race suits retail at $695 in their online store, while the super-light 3 Layer option, weighing just 1.4kg, is $995.

Fully customised options are available, such as the suit worn by John McIntyre in the #47 BlackwoodsProtector V8 SuperTourer.

“The JMR team and our sponsors put a large emphasis on safety, and we are really pleased with the new FIA range from Vortex. Our pit crew, mechanics and hot lap passengers are also wearing Vortex from head to toe.” McIntyre commented.

V8 SuperTourers rookie Dominic Storey and his iSport Racing team are another high profile outfit to be wearing Vortex for the 2013 season.

The FIA range of Vortex Racewear products is available for purchase in a full range of sizes and colours in their secure online shop at www.vortexracewear.com, as well as in store at their local Pukekohe premises.

Customers in the lower North Island can purchase Vortex Racewear through Road n’ Track in Wellington.
