Ben Hurley & Steve Wrigley in More Live and More Unleashed!

Ben Hurley & Steve Wrigley in More Live and More Unleashed!

Two of the heavy weights of New Zealand comedy team up once more for what is sure to be one of the biggest and undoubtedly best shows of the 2013 NZ International Comedy Festival. After the sell-out success in Rangatira at Q Theatre in Auckland 2012, the boys return with new stories, stand ups, guests and also take their show on the road to Wellington’s Downstage Theatre.

Such was the success of last year’s show it has been picked up by TV3 with four hour long episodes being filmed around the country in early 2013 for broadcast later in the year. Ben and Steve: World Famous In… will showcase their unique format of unscripted banter as they dual host and invite stand up comics and celebrity guests to join them. It has won over audiences and promises to be something that will keep them laughing long after they have left the theatre.

The chemistry between Ben and Steve goes back to their formative comedy years in Wellington. Since then they have both won the Billy T Award and between them a Fred Award, NZCG Best Male Comedian and NZCG Best MC.

As two of the stars of TV3’s 7Days Ben and Steve have shown they have the comedy chops and this is the show where they get to let loose. Unlike the shows being filmed for TV, these live NZ International Comedy Festival shows have no rules, no censors and plenty of mayhem.

2012 saw guests such as Hilary Barry, Rhys Darby, Laura McGoldrick and Jono Pryor join the boys on stage. All of them joined in the chaos and helped make each performance unique and hilarious.

“We had such a great time doing this show last year” says Steve “It’s great to film some shows but then let loose during the Festival and also doing a full season in our home town Wellington. It’s going to be awesome.”
