Mighty Ape helps a mighty cause

Mighty Ape teamed up with BLACKCAP, Grant Elliot to help raise funds for Angus Little during the recent ANZ One Day International series against England. Although the BLACKCAPS lost the series 2:1 the Angus Little Brain Tumour Fundraising Appeal still wins with Grant raising $2440. Grant is donating all the funds to the Angus Little Brain Tumour Fundraising Appeal which needs $300,000 to send Angus to the United States for some potentially life saving treatment. Treatment which is currently in its research phase and unavailable in New Zealand.

Grant had good starts in all three innings, but an aggressive England bowling attack kept the pressure on throughout the series. Mighty Ape challenged Grant to raise money for the Fundraising Appeal by offering $500 for each match he was selected for, $50 for each wicket he was involved in, and $10 for each run he scored. There was also a bonus $200 for each match the BLACKCAPS won.

‘Mighty Ape is pleased to have supported such an awesome little monkey’, says Mighty Ape founder, Simon Barton. ‘We’re grateful to Grant for accepting this challenge, and stoked that he put in a mighty effort’.

Angus Little was a special guest at the Basin Reserve on Sunday to watch the Wellington Firebirds take on the Auckland Aces. Grant presented his Angus with a cheque and a special Mighty Angus Jr mascot during the innings break.
