Lightfoot Chases Points Down South

Lightfoot Chases Points Down South

V8 Ute racer Mike ‘Buzz’ Lightfoot will be on the hunt for points when the second round of the UDC V8 Utes gets underway this weekend at Ruapuna near Christchurch.

The track has been a happy hunting ground for Lightfoot in the past with the Aucklander having taken away multiple podium finishes from the round.

The highly technical nature of the Ruapuna track is one that Lightfoot enjoys and he is looking to repeat a previous podium finish to push him up from his current fifth place in the standings, after a somewhat up and down opening round at Hampton Downs.

The Ruapuna round is also another chance for Lightfoot to further learn the Precision Racing Falcon which he only drove for the first time at round one. Despite having driven a Falcon Ute throughout his days in the series, the new Ute is quite different to the one campaigned across the previous four seasons.

But learning the new Ute is a challenge that Lightfoot is enjoying and with the help of Stoneman Race Tech, is easing his way into the new setup, which sees the Ute sitting a lot lower than the old Ute.

“I’m really looking forward to Ruapuna, it’s a track I enjoy,” says Lightfoot. “Unfortunately we haven’t had a chance to get in the new Ute outside of race weekends so we are still learning it, but I am certainly enjoying it.”

Lightfoot’s 2013 UDC V8 Utes campaign is supported by Precision Components, Norgren and Promotion by design.
