Auckland Museum open till midnight for White Night

Auckland Museum open till midnight for White Night this Saturday – free tours and activities
For six hours this Saturday night (March 16) Auckland Museum will open its doors for the Auckland Art Festival’s White Night celebrations.

From 6pm to 12am all of the galleries will be open with free tours and activities taking place around the museum.

It’s also a great chance to catch the WOW Off The Wall exhibition, with 30 incredible wearable arts garments, before it closes next weekend.

Kids will enjoy the Pasifika programme in Weird & Wonderful Gallery or they can just explore some of the gallery’s new features – a child-sized nest, an iPad research station, virtual pathfinder bugs that respond to touch and thousands of incredible bugs – from 6pm to 9pm.

Children can also join in on a free tour with Basil the dinosaur at 6.30pm, 7.30pm or 8.30pm.

Adults can take a look at the museum through fresh eyes with Collection Manager Siren Deluxe’s tours at 7pm, 8pm or 9pm.

White Night will also see special lighting of the museum and features in the Domain including the Pohutukawa tree on west side of the building with artist Tiffany Singh’s installation Gently Through the Veil I Heard Your Call.

On the night there’s also a free bus travelling between the different White Night venues http://www.aaf.co.nz/media/141990/transport_info.pdf
