OHbaby! Magazine launches interactive magazine

Award-winning OHbaby! Magazine has just launched its magazine as an interactive digital magazine on the Apple Newsstand.

Managing Director Angela Pedersen says “We’ve been on Zinio for a while, like most publishers, but this interactive magazine is quite different to a page ‘flicking’ PDF with the occasional hyperlink. Our readers will be watching videos, scrolling through content, viewing 3D pictures of products, watching our animated cover and scrolling through our advertisers adverts and clicking through to purchase from them.”

OHbaby! Magazine and website has long been known for its innovation and leadership in the parenting market with its award winning magazine and website. The digital magazine available on the Apple Newsstand is a natural progression and extension of OHbaby!’s current offering but also opens up their audience to a global market place.

To that end, Angela Pedersen has deliberately aimed to launch the first two issues with only New Zealand businesses that are making it in the global market. “We’re a small New Zealand business trying to reach a global audience, and we want to support and partner with other New Zealand businesses within the parenting market that are building their brands internationally. As such, for our first two issues we have deliberately not approached international brands and clients as we want to provide great exposure and brand awareness to the national and international market downloading the magazine.”

Magazine Publishers’ Association CEO John McClintock comments, “We’ve had a lot of comment from agencies recently that shows they are keen for publishers to be more innovative and offer something more interactive for their clients. It is pleasing to see that OHbaby!, a member of the MPA, is playing a lead role in an exciting time for publishers to really engage with their audience in a new way.”

OHbaby! Interactive Magazine will cost $6.49 for a single issue download and $19.99 for a one year subscription. From next week consumers will also be able to purchase it from Google Plus for Android and Amazon for Kindle Fire.
