Spectacular Autumn Race For Runners Of All Abilities

Spectacular Autumn Race For Runners Of All Abilities

LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (14 March, 2013) – The Kathmandu Riverrun Trail Series has extended the third event of the series to feature three races including distances for children and social runners as well as the original 13km trail running course. The new multiple-distance event ensures the whole family can participate and enjoy the spectacular autumn run on the Outlet Track following the mighty Clutha River on Saturday 13 April.

Race Three will start and finish on the Hikuwai Reserve in Albert Town. The event offers a 2km race, specifically designed for the younger runners, a 5km race for the more social runners and the full 13km course travelling to Beacon Point beach and return.

All races will head up in to the woodlands travelling along the Manuka fringed trail before joining the Outlet Track and travelling alongside the clear waters of the Clutha River. The turnaround points are staggered along the track.

“April is the perfect time for a run along the Outlet Track with the brilliant reds and golds of the poplar trees lining the track,” said race director Victoria Murray-Orr. “It is great to be able to offer different distance courses for runners of all abilities and encourage family and friends to get involved. The Outlet Track in autumn has been voted as one of the top places to visit in New Zealand and is a great running track for local and visiting runners.”

There are four races in the Kathmandu Riverrun Trail Series, an off-road running series which explores the spectacular lakeside and river tracks in Lake Wanaka. The final race is on Saturday 19 May and travels on a lakeside course from Glendhu Bay to Wanaka. The Outlet Track is part of the Te Araroa Walkway, a 3000-km trail stretching from Cape Reinga in the North to Bluff in the South.

There is a fantastic prize pool up for grabs including cash prizes for place getters, plus plenty of spot prizes including vouchers for local cafes, restaurants and retailers.
The Kathmandu Riverrun Trail Series is generously supported by Kathmandu, Riverrun, the Pawson Adventure Fund, Wanaka Health, Patagonia Chocolates, The Water Bar and Radio Wanaka.

For the online entry form and further information please visit www.trailseries.co.nz

Online entries are open until midnight on Thursday 11 April. Competitors can enter on the day with a late entry fee applying.
