New Zealand Light Leathers- A Wholesaler's Dream

New Zealand Light Leathers- A Wholesaler's Dream

Nestled down in the back corner at Public Bar and Eatery on Courtenay place, Megan Calvert and Chrissie Brown from New Zealand Light Leathers, are showcasing an elaborate display of leather for wholesalers and designers, designed to entice the New Zealand fashion market.

Calvert explains that the 100% deer skin collection is a preview for the forward season and an indication of future European trends.

“Our collection is really a peek preview at where the Europeans are going to go, and there is no reason why they [New Zealand wholesalers] can’t start planning that for their next summer.”
New Zealand Light Leathers produces around 6000 deer skin a week, 99% of that is for the export market.
Their leathers can be matched with “any colour of the rainbow”, which is one of the reasons why they are so popular in Europe.

Calvert outlines that they are placing emphasis on bringing their product back to New Zealand.
“ [Our collection] is proven overseas but it’s always lovely to have the New Zealand story and see our products in New Zealand designs, and within New Zealand stores.”

The New Zealand Light Leathers showcase will continue tomorrow at the Public Bar and Eatery Friday from 11.30am-3.30pm.
