Alexandra Couple Drive Away With AMI Autocar ‘Car of the Year’

Alexandra couple, Mr and Mrs Hearfield, are driving away in a brand new Suzuki Swift today, compliments of AMI.

The Hearfields, both in their 70s, were thrilled to find themselves the winners of the 2012 AMI NZ Autocar ‘Car of the Year’ competition. Mr and Mrs Hearfield became eligible for the competition by renewing their existing car insurance policy in December 2012.

“They were thrilled with the win, which came at an exceptionally exciting and happy time for the family. We had to delay the handing over of the new Suzuki until after their daughter’s wedding, which clearly takes precedent,” said Owen Clarke, AMI’s Otago Area Manager.

“The Hearfield’s have been loyal customers of AMI for 23 years, so we couldn’t be happier about handing over the keys to them today. It’s great to see a local Alexandra couple win the prize too.”

The couple chose the Suzuki Swift from a trio of eligible cars including the Volvo V40 and Toyota Camry. The prize valued at just under $30,000, includes all on road costs, a full tank of fuel, a 3 year/100,000km factory warranty and a 5 year AMI breakdown service.

AMI and Autocar magazine have partnered together since 2006 to support the AMI NZ Car of the year. In 2012 the overall winner was the Mazda CX5. This promotion gave new and existing AMI customers the chance to win the category winner for small car (the Suzuki Swift), compact car (Volvo V40), or the medium/large car (Toyota Camry).
