the fiercest battles ever in New Zealand roller derby is
taking place right on your doorstep this June. Are you ready
to see the mighty women of the City of Sails take on the
Capital City’s finest skaters?
Auckland Roller Derby started off its 2013 season with a bang, taking out Christchurch’s Dead End Derby 242-136 in front of a packed home crowd. Wellington’s Richter City has been showing its strength this year, with wins both at home and away. With both teams playing for glory, who will take out the win?
For the uninitiated, roller derby is a fast and strategic contact sport, played on quad roller skates. Auckland Roller Derby has been going strong since its inception, winning games against teams from all over New Zealand and as far-flung as New South Wales. Roller derby is proving popular among die-hard sports fans and families looking for a bit of Saturday evening entertainment alike. Don your blues and whites to support your local team and head down to the YMCA in the city for a piece of the action.
Doors to this exciting event open at 6pm, with the game starting at 7pm.
