Award Winning Director Park Chan-Wook (Oldboy, Stoker) Confirmed For the Big Screen Symposium 2013

Auckland, June 20, 2013 – Script to Screen and J&A Productions are proud to announce the 2013 Big Screen Symposium to be held at the University of Auckland, August 10th-11th. The event will explore the theme REEL VISION IN A DIGITAL WORLD.

Critically acclaimed South Korean director Park Chan-wook has been confirmed for this year’s Big Screen Symposium, and will present a Directors' Workshop and an In Conversation session.

In 2011, Park directed his first English-language film Stoker, starring Nicole Kidman, Mia Wasikowska and Matthew Goode. Since its release in March 2013, the film has received worldwide acclaim. As well as a Workshop and In Conversation session with Park, Big Screen Symposium ticket holders will also be invited to attend a special screening of Stoker before its NZ release by Fox Searchlight on August 15.

Park Chan-wook will be part of a fantastic line-up of speakers (to be announced) for the two-day symposium, bringing together all the people who make films for the purpose of debate, discussion, information and inspiration.

Last year's inaugural Big Screen Symposium was a resounding success, prompting floods of glowing feedback from speakers and attendees. The programme was built around the theme EXPLORING THE NEW WAY FORWARD and the line-up included US indie producer Ted Hope, Sundance-winning writer/director Ben Lewin, longstanding and Palme d'Or nominated Australian director Gillian Armstrong, master cinematographer Alun Bollinger, Mexican writer/director Dana Rotberg and legendary actor Sam Neill.

"I certainly felt it was the best conference of its type that I have been a part of over the past 30 years in the business." Tim White (Producer), Speaker 2012

Earlybird tickets are on sale now until July 1. The Big Screen Symposium takes place on 10th and 11th August at the Owen G Glen Building, University of Auckland Business School. To find out more, please visit http://www.bigscreensymposium.com.
