Kiwis loving Kiwi movies online

Mt Zion and The Hobbit two of New Zealand’s favourite flicks to watch at home

Kiwis are a nation of movie lovers.

And it turns out that we enjoy nothing more than spending a cold winter’s night at home, watching a box office hit made on our own scenic shores.

Quickflix, New Zealand’s first online movie and TV digital streaming service, has just compiled stats on the most popular new release films over the last month.

The results show that Kiwis are embracing local films and film makers, with singer Stan Walker’s box office smash Mt Zion continuing its triumphant run at the top.

Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit is at number three.

Rounding out the top five, Django Unchained comes in at number two, The Impossible at four, and new children’s classic Tad at five.

As well as revealing our passion for local productions, these results also demonstrate that more of us are choosing to watch the latest releases via digital streaming, with Quickflix’s Pay Per Play.
