Experience ‘Sound FX’ at MOTAT These School Holidays

MOTAT visitors are set to experience an exciting explosion of sound this school holidays with MOTAT’s ‘Sound FX’ Holiday Experience from 13-28 July.

Children and adults alike can immerse themselves in fun activities designed to highlight the important role that sound plays in our lives.

MOTAT Museum Director, Michael Frawley explains that MOTAT Holiday Experiences are designed to be an interactive experience for children that is both fun and educational and will keep the whole family entertained over the school holidays.

The highlight of the Sound FX Holiday Experience will be the ‘The MOTAT Radio Show’; an immersive play that invites kids to join in on the performance. Other interactive activities include bringing a silent vintage movie to life by creating sound effects, discovering the concept of onomatopoeia through a cartoon story telling workshop and crafting a musical rain stick.

Additionally, the Fonterra Science Roadshow returns to MOTAT these school holidays, with two live daily shows; ‘Balloons and Bernoulli,’ an investigation into pressure, and ‘The Scientific Pantry,’ relating science to typical pantry foods and liquids.

“We’re excited that the Fonterra Science Roadshow is coming back for the third year in a row; it gives our visitors an interactive insight into the world of science. The shows are relatable and entertaining to visitors of all ages and even parents have been known to learn a thing or two from their shows,” says MOTAT Museum Director, Michael Frawley.
