World class Dodgeball in our own backyard

World class Dodgeball in our own backyard

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

I am very excited to announce that on September 27th this year, Dodgeball New Zealand will be hosting the 2nd annual World Dodgeball Federation Invitational at the Queenstown Events Centre. Get ready for fast paced excitement and thrilling action as six nations will battle it out for the title of world champions – USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand.

Last year’s champions, the Hong Kong Men’s and the Canadian Women’s teams, will be attending the event. In Malaysia last year, the Canadian and USA men’s teams were understrength, but they will be fronting up with top class teams this year so we are expected some hard fought games to determine this year’s champion – the USA women’s team will be present this year.

The tournament consists of two divisions – Men’s and Women’s – and will be run over the course of the day, with every team playing every other team in their division. Official WDBF rules will be used for the event.

The WDBF Invitational event will be open to spectators via donation – all proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the Wakatipu High School PE Department.

The nationwide search for the NZ men’s and women’s teams (The NZ Black Falcons and the NZ Fantails) has come to an end, with the squads being announced shortly.
