This Is Muzai – 2009 - 2013

This Is Muzai – 2009 - 2013

A 27 track sampler now streaming from the MUZAI Records Soundcloud page.

In May, MUZAI celebrated its forth anniversary as a label – so many changes have happened since the label first started up in 2009, from the way it releases it's music to the artists that now call MUZAI their New Zealand home.

As a means of documenting the past four years, and maybe even a future obituary of sorts, MUZAI have released a streaming sampler entitled “This Is MUZAI – 2009 – 2013”, given listeners a chance to follow some of the artists the Auckland based independent record label have worked with over the years, who they are currently working with now, and perhaps more “newsworthy” for some places, the artists that MUZAI will be collaborating with in the future.

The future, namely, being new signings to MUZAI, Astro Children, Young Hellions and The All Seeing Hand.

Each track on the sampler also contains some form of anecdotal note too from MUZAI's founder/director Benjii Jackson – ranging from stories about how they artists ended up collaborating with the label through to random musings and excuses to shill products to the listener. This is a business after all.

It is hope that the sampler will act as somewhat of a digital time capsule, providing some new fans of label a chance to discover some of the older works during the MUZAI's formative years, or for many to rediscover some lost gems, such as Nice Birds, Cool Cult or Sworn To The King.
