International
Volunteer Managers Day theme
announced
Volunteering New Zealand (VNZ) encourages organisations to celebrate International Volunteer Managers Day (IVM) to be held on November 5.
This year, the day is inspired by a whakataukī, Maori proverb:
Ma mua ka kite a muri
Ma muri ka ora a
mua.
Those who lead give sight to those who
follow
Those who follow give life to those who
lead.
“Our Te Reo theme gives a strong Aotearoa focus and reminds us of the personal connections between managers of volunteers and volunteers themselves,” says Vanisa Dhiru, Chief Executive of VNZ.
“The global theme for IVM, ‘Connecting and Inspiring’, has given us direction from friends across the world to recognise and celebrate the great work of leaders and managers of volunteers in our community and voluntary sector”.
“Leaders and managers of volunteers are innovative and creative - they have such an impact on the organisations they work for, and should be valued for this,” says Vanisa.
Briefing and design material for IVM can be found on the VNZ website and includes posters for free download, a Facebook banner, logo designs and key messages.
VNZ will be hosting an online event on November 5 with other volunteer involving organisations leaders and managers.
