WearableArt wonders at The Roxy Cinema

Media release

WearableArt wonders at The Roxy Cinema

The World of WearableArt 2013 Awards is still a week away but Wellington icon The Roxy Cinema is offering a sneak preview of the talent on show.

Along with an exclusive exhibition of WOW Bizarre Bras, The Roxy is holding a public auction of WOW entry Vena Immaculata, giving away an exclusive piece of jewellery designed by WOW supreme award winner Claire Prebble, and offering the public a chance to meet one of WOW’s talented artists.

From now until 13 October The Roxy is showcasing a selection of Bizarre Bra entries from WearableArt designer, author and illustrator Fifi Colston.

Budding artists can meet Fifi in person on Friday 4 October at an exclusive workshop being held at The Roxy (6.30–8.00pm). Fifi will provide 50 guests with insights and inspiration into creating wearable wonders. Tickets are on sale now ($40 each, including workshop, a glass of bubbles, and canapés).

Fifi has designed 18 WearableArt costumes since 1995. Her Vena Immaculata entry received an Honorable Mention at the 2011 Awards Show.

Vena Immaculata has pride of place in The Roxy’s box office for the next two weeks, before being auctioned off to the public on Friday 4 October at 8pm. All proceeds from the auction will go to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.

Visitors to The Roxy are also in to win another piece of WOW to take home. Together with Brancott Estate, The Roxy is offering guests the chance to win a custom-made jewellery item made by WOW supreme award winner Claire Prebble.

Guests who buy a movie ticket and a glass of Brancott Estate sparking wine ($10 a glass) from now until 13 October will go in the draw. The prize will be drawn on 14 October.

“The Roxy is very excited about this year’s World of WearableArt festivities. We have partnered with two of New Zealand’s most talented artists, Fifi Colston and Claire Prebble, who are adding their WOW factor to The Roxy.
