Wellington’s all-girl hip-hop dance crew take on the world

PRESS RELEASE

September 27, 2013

Infinite possibilities as Wellington’s all-girl hip-hop dance crew take on the world

A crew of 10 Kiwi female hip-hop dancers are warming up to take on the world’s best at the Hip Hop Unite World Championships in Serbia, next month.

The Wellington-based Infinite dance crew, which is sponsored by SKINS compression sportswear, are training hard for the competition, hoping to better their third-placing at last year’s world champs. They will be performing against dance crews from 14 other countries around the world.
Infinite is made up of dancers aged from 16 to 28, all of who are dance teachers. Spokesperson for the crew, Anna Robinson says the 10 women travelling in the team are really amped up for the world competition and confident they can beat their previous third place.

“We’re all working so hard. We all want this so much and believe we have a real shot at the title,” Robinson said. “We have great routines and crew of really strong, talented dancers.

“This will be our third trip to the world champs, so we know what to expect. We really want to bring that trophy home!”

The crew is fundraising hard for their trip with movie nights and performances on the fan trail at All Blacks matches as well as local netball and basket games.

And they’re hoping they’ll all hop off the plane in Serbia after 30 hours of flying, with fresh, dance-ready, legs thanks to SKINS who have provided the team with A400 long compression tights and long sleeve tops to keep them in tip-top condition between performances.

“With our training sessions often stretching to three hours of non-stop movement we always find our legs tire out much faster than our arms, so the SKINS will help us keep going harder for longer – and help us recover afterward,” says Robinson.

The Hip Hop Unite World Championships in Serbia run from October 17-20 and fans can keep track of the Infinite crew’s progress via Facebook, Twitter and their website at www.infinitedancecrew.com
