X Factor host Dominic Bowden will be serenaded by Aotea Youth Symphony when he presents an award to Auckland’s most popular music teacher tomorrow at the Auckland Art Gallery at 3pm.
Bowden, who got his start in the orchestra, says that he owes a lot to his former music teachers and that they should be celebrated.
"Music was the one thing I was good at and really loved at school; my music teachers helped me develop my talent. This is my chance to give back to our awesome music teachers."
During the past three weeks nearly one thousand Aucklanders have voted for their favourite music teacher in an online competition run by Aotea Youth Symphony and supported by Bowden.
Mrs Ronnie Karadjov from Marist College is the winner and will receive prizes of more than $1000 from KBB Music and Lewis Eady Charitable Trust.

About Aotea Youth
Symphony
Aotea Youth Symphony (AYS) was formed in
1986 after a community meeting in Mount Albert, Auckland. It
was created to provide Auckland youth with an opportunity to
grow as musicians and receive valuable performance
experience.
Although initially called the Mount Albert Youth Symphony, the orchestra soon attracted youth from all over Auckland and so the name was changed to Aotea Youth Symphony. From its beginning AYS has been led by music director Paul Harrop. Members are grade six or above in their chosen instrument.
AYS performs several times a year at diverse locations, including on board the QE II and at the Sydney Opera House. The orchestra also tours internationally every two years. Previous location tours include Australia, Japan, Canada, USA, Germany, China and Tahiti.
