Red Bull Sound Select Announces the First Series of Live Gigs In Auckland and Wellington

To celebrate the recent New Zealand launch of Red Bull Sound Select; Wellington, a city with a strong history of emerging talent, has been chosen as the host city for the first of the live gig series. In a special “Red Bull Sound Select Presents” showcase on October 30, curated by local music influencer Connor Nestor; Mighty Mighty will host Red Bull Sound Select artists HIGH HØØPS, Spycc and Taste NASA. The event will also play the next night in Auckland, on October 31, at the Winchester.

Red Bull Sound Select is an ongoing program to support local music scenes and the people who push them forward. The recent launch of the online music platform in New Zealand, is the first steps toward global expansion following a hugely successful start in the US this year.

Sound Selectcelebrates hard working artists, passionate fans, and the tastemakers that shape scenes. It is part artist development program, part event series, part digital product, part curator network; all working together to bring artists and fans closer together to #breakmusic.

“I'm hyped about Red Bull Sound Select launching in New Zealand, it has some amazing artists onboard here and overseas. The acts I’m working with are making music that would easily stand up on a global level. This is the project that’s going to put them there. The shows are going to be next level” says Nestor.

At every “Red Bull Sound Select Presents” event, respected music voices across New Zealand like Connor Nestor will curate the line-up for each showcase. Fans can look forward to future live shows from other recently signed Sound Select bands including Kåmnd¡, Busker Dimes and Kakapo, curated by the HIT + RUN crew. Third3ye, Team Dynamite and The Means will be curated by Young, Gifted and Broke.

Today, fans can log on to redbullsoundselect.com/nz, create their new profile, and request a ticket to the Wellington and Auckland shows. Tickets will be just $3 for those that RSVP online, or $10 on the door.

Sound Selectcaptures a bands social media content, moving images, still images and editorial. Fans support bands through liking, sharing and commenting on the bands social media networks. This interaction becomes vital to a bands success. Bands reward fans by giving them access to events across the Sound Select network. The more support bands receive, the more they are rewarded with unique opportunities to showcase their talent. Opportunities include access to Red Bull’s global network of recording studios; performance opportunities at festivals, bookings through Sound Select partners; and valuable support on content production and distribution from the Red Bull Media House.
