Watercolour Group Exhibition

Watercolour Group Exhibition

Eva Mc Enroe, Poppies

This enchanting group exhibition features some of Mid - Canterbury’s award winning artists. Robin Arnst, George Coppard, Jen Dearborne, Margaret Digby, Barbara Jaine, Debbie Lambert, Eva McEnroe, Ngaio McKee, Judith Mitchell, Susie Millichamp, Alison Ramsay, Sue Simpson and Ben Woollcombe, are among the exhibitors in this local show. All the exhibiting artists are passionate about art and majority have been painting and drawing from an early age.
Susie Millichamp states “My life is immersed in scenery”.

Landscape is a predominant theme among this diverse range of artists as the ever changing colours and shapes of the landscape act as a source of inspiration.

“The paintings for this exhibition are the result of me trying to capture the way the light falls on the landscape and the ever changing colours that appear in the sky, hills and water”. - Jen Dearborn

The artists often paint on site which allows them to re-create the colour, form and atmosphere of the stunning New Zealand locations they visit and then finish the work in their studio.

This challenging but rewarding medium allows the artists to work with a wide variety of subject matters. The exhibition showcases work from portraits to still life, to landscapes and seascape.
Debbie Lambert states she “finds watercolours a challenging medium, and loves the magical way the paints react, mixing and mingling with each other to create luminosity and various effects that cannot be contrived”.
Each individual artist will demonstrate their own style and techniques which will bring to light the fascinating and challenging aspects of this celebrated medium.

Opening Saturday 19 October 1:30pm
19 October - 10 November 2013
