Lightfoot eager to get back to Hampton Downs

Mike ‘Buzz’ Lightfoot is eager to get back on track for the penultimate round of the 2013 UDC V8 Ute series at Hampton Downs raceway this weekend.

After four rounds of the series to date, Lightfoot sits second in the series standings, 57 points adrift of Chris Hanley and will be looking to at least maintain that position over the weekend, whilst remaining in a position to capitalise on any mistakes that the series leader may make.

Lightfoot’s chances of a podium finish for the weekend are high if past history is anything to go by. In only his second ever meeting at the wheel of a Ute, the Aucklander claimed a podium finish at the North Waikato track.

As well as history on his side, Lightfoot enjoys the layout of the circuit and is confident that with the help of the Stoneman Race Tech team, he can put the Precision Racing Falcon at the front end of the field.

“I’m really looking forward to getting the Precision Racing Ute out on the track at Hampton Downs, it’s a great track and one I really enjoy,” says Lightfoot. “In the past three rounds, we’ve recorded a podium finish every time and ideally I’d like to be in a position to fight Chris (Hanley) for the championship at the final round at Pukekohe.”

Lightfoot and his team also welcome a new sponsor, Greenlane Osteopathy, to the team

The unique format for the V8 Ute series sees just one practise session before the qualifying session and race one, which run back to back on Saturday.

The following sees a further three races, the opening two seeing grids determined by a marble draw for race two which is reversed for race three, before round points determine the grid for the final, slightly longer 12 lap race.
