NZGT Semi Final Two: First Finalists Revealed

The second New Zealand’s Got Talent Semi-Final kicked off tonight with the results of last week’s voting.
The three acts with the most votes from Semi-Final One were Renee Maurice, Diamond Divas, and Mayo. Renee came out on top and was sent straight through to the Grand Final, then the judges had to choose a second act to join her. Cris Judd said that the Divas had been his favourite act since their audition and they had his vote; but Jason Kerrison and Rachel Hunter were looking for variety, and chose liquid dancer Mayo to progress to the next stage.
Next, the acts competing for this week’s votes took the stage:
- M.D.M. – a trio of young brothers from Auckland, singing “Hey Soul Sister” by Train.
- Latin/ballroom dancing couple Brian & Sarah, from Christchurch, who performed a jive.
- Gabriella Atkinson, a 13-year-old from Nelson, singing “People Get Ready” by Curtis Mayfield.
- All-female hip hop crew Origin, from Nelson.
- Vocalist James Lee, from Auckland, singing Beyonce’s “Listen”.
The three performers with the most votes from the public will be announced on stage ahead of the next week’s Semi Final.
Finally tonight, showing the new contestants how it’s done, NZGT’s 2012 winner Clara Val Wel treated the audience to a performance of “Wait For Me”, from her debut album. Clara’s album is streaming exclusively right now on the NZGT website.

To vote for your choice of performer to head to the NZGT Grand Final, text their keyword to: 8981. Each text costs 99c, and you can vote as many times as you like. Voting opens at 7.30pm on Sunday 27 October, and closes at midnight on Monday 28th.
