Aspirations which restore quality to life

Aspirations which restore quality to life

Recently the spiritual dimension of our humanness has been added to the 'official' therapeutic mix of evidence-based and psychological medicines.   Controversy persists over just what we should mean by the term 'spiritual', but, broadly speaking,  ‘spirituality’ embraces an aspirational approach, whether religious or secular, to the living of human life.  It embraces notions of relationship, quality, meaning and appropriate conduct that are largely absent from conventional medicine.

The Dunedin School of Medicine has a strategy group which studies Spirituality and Well-Being.  Leading that group is Richard Egan who is this week's guest In Conversation with Noel Cheer on Face Television.

'In Conversation with Noel Cheer', Face Television, Monday November 11th at 7:00pm, repeated on Tuesday November 12th at 12 noon.

Face Television, the home of public broadcasting, is found on Sky Television Channel 083. It can also be received in the Auckland region on UHF Channels 41, 42 and 52 until December 1st.  It is  live-streamed on www.ecasttv.co.nz.  The website www.facetv.co.nz carries programme schedules.   Some past episodes of In Conversation can be viewed at www.youtube.com/user/NoelCheer

"In Conversation with Noel Cheer" receives funding from New Zealand on Air.  This has enabled us to introduce viewers to over 280 New Zealanders on Air (as well as a few visitors to New Zealand) during nearly seven years of unbroken weekly public-interest broadcasting.
