Tallyho Mysitic Turns Tables

Lucy Turner (Broadfields) has gone one up in the battle for supremacy amongst the South Island’s leading pony grand prix riders, closing in on Country TV Pony Grand Prix Series southern leaders Steffi Whittaker (Halswell) and Lucinda Askin (Ashburton).

Turner and her 10-year-old mare Tallyho Mystic, headed off five other combinations to take victory at Showjumping Canterbury’s Two Star Xmas Cracker at the NEC McLeans Island today.

The pair were among five combinations to finish the first round on four faults, with no combinations jumping clear. In the second round, a perfect clear to arch rival Steffi Whittaker and Moonlight Glow gave her the advantage. Tallyho Mystic duly responded producing a faultless performance, finishing faster to hand Turner the win, turning the tables on Whittaker, who she finished runner-up to last weekend at the South Island Championships.

Lucinda Askin finished third and fourth with Totem and Buckle Up with 8 faults respectively

Mosgiel’s Claudia Hay and her lovely stallion Euro Sport Centavos continued their winning ways in the Two Star Horse Grand Prix taking outright honours with the only double clear round.

Ohoka’s Olivia Robertson had a fantastic show taking out both the 1.25m Championship and Seven Year Old Series with DHS Ceniki, as well as winning the Telford Young Rider aboard Ngahiwi Cisco.

The Caledonian Amateur went to Takaka’s Lynley Wilson on Zactac Indian Brave while Rakaia’s Kimberley Bird on Ngahiwi Summer took out the KiwiSpan Junior Rider.
