St Jerome’s Laneway Festival - Red Bull Thunderdome Artists

Media Release

St Jerome’s Laneway Festival Announces Red Bull Thunderdome Artists

Right now, we’re about to dive into the thick of a long hot summer.  And Laneway Festival are adding to this fine summer blender with the return of The Red Bull Thunderdome for 2014.

Tucked away inside one of concrete landmarks of Auckland’s Waterfront, The Red Bull Thunderdome is set to deliver a fresh-as-toast party experience for all festival-goers this summer.

Cementing it’s rep for celebrating hard-working local talent with fans, the Red Bull Sound Select programme offers up an opportunity for artists to play to their fans in an epic location within the festival environment in the effort to #BREAKMUSIC.

For 2014, Laneway Festival has selected two artists from the Red Bull #SOUNDSELECT programme;HIGH HØØPS and Third3ye, who will both perform inside The Red Bull Thunderdome in Silo Park.

Co-promoter of Laneway Festival, Ben Howe says, “The Red Bull Thunderdome is one of the most interesting and unique aspects of Laneway. Basically it’s like a secret party, hidden inside a blacked out empty industrial silo tower.”

“There's cool LED lights and even cooler music. So I am super pleased we've got two awesome Red Bull Sound Select acts to include in the line up. HIGH HØØPS are going to bring some solid party grooves and Third3ye are a great collective of conscious Aotearoa MC's.”

In true Laneway tradition, the festival creates a blend of bands known and unknown. 2014 will see Laneway brimming with a smorgasbord of boundary-pushing acts to satisfy the ears of New Zealand.

The Red Bull Sound Select artists for 2014 are:

HIGH HØØPS

HIGH HØØPS has a penchant for escapism and a wandering cinematic mind. Influenced by dreamy romanticisms and idyllic neverlands far beyond the golden frequencies, HIGH HØØPS will take you right back to your first endless summer. With a killer live visual set planned and a collection of self-labelled 'Dreambop' ditty's at their final stages, this Laneway set will be a must.

THIRD3YE

Third3ye represents a collective of like-minded artists, coming together to produce a spiritually-conscious form of Hip Hop all the way from sunny Aotearoa. The Third3ye whānau is made-up by Auckland MCs MelowDownz and Angelo King, Northland DJ/Producer DJTORU, and internationally-acclaimed Producer Ben Jamin’. Experimenting with new sounds and theories, the collective push messages of philosophy, enlightenment, and higher consciousness. Third3ye aims to take it down a new spiritual bush track. Expect awesomeness.
