The ITM Fishing Show is coming home!

The ITM Fishing Show is coming home!

Matt with big crays, Queenstown

Over the past few years Matt Watson, has been pulled from pillar to post by international media and broadcasters alike, all vying for more of his brand of high-energy fishing and outrageous stunts. But Watson backed away from the helicopter leaping antics, in favor of producing The ITM Fishing Show, a show he started in his Kerikeri garage twelve years ago and it’s now going better than ever, with an all- new series kicking off on Saturday May the 3rd

The move to concentrate on the home-grown show has already paid off, with The ITM Fishing Show winning ‘Best Sports Show’ and ‘NZ’s Favorite Show’ in the 2014 TV Guide Viewers Choice Awards.

So fans can expect more of that winning formula this series, with loads of real kiwi characters, plenty of tips and insights for the fishers, and the stunning underwater footage that has become a hallmark of the show. There are a couple of far-flung destinations this series, the likes of Mexico and Samoa, but for the main part it’s a mix of familiar locations from around New Zealand and some hidden gems from our coastline where Matt uncovers some spectacular fishing and diving.

One special trip this series is to the Wairarapa, to fish with a guy who’s lost the use of his legs but continues to commercially fish this wild coastline, and on the land an equally remarkable story, an eleven-year-old girl who runs her own pig dogs takes Matt into the hills and together they wrangle a huge wild boar! We also visit Northland, Auckland, the Coromandel, the West Coast and East Cape amongst others, for some uniquely kiwi adventures.

Viewers will be treated to some truly awesome sights this season as Matt goes head to head with the toughest fish he’s ever encountered -when a days fishing in his little boat that turns into and all night epic. Our beautiful country is showcased for all to see and the amazing people that make New Zealand what it is feature throughout. In 2014 The ITM Fishing Show is coming home.
