Thousands Take in New Waikato Food Show

Thousands of people descended on Mystery Creek Events Centre over the weekend, venue for the inaugural The Great NZ Food Show.

Visitors were treated to a huge array of diverse flavours and products from over 140 exhibitors, many commenting how great the food samples were and that the show had a real farmers market feel to it but on a larger scale.

Show exhibitor Angelo Tredicucci from Pasta Mia commented “We attend a lot of shows and this one has been great, big crowds and really busy”.

The Heathcote Appliances Cooking Theatre was a full house all weekend with celebrity chefs such as Annabelle White and Nici Wickes showing off some of their favourite dishes.

For those wanting to get their hands dirty, the Wintec Cooking Classes were the place to be. The majority of the classes were sold out; no surprise given ticket holders could learn the tricks of the trade from experts the likes of Nikki & Jordan, MasterChef NZ 2014 contestants and Executive Chef Eugene Hamilton, afterward getting to enjoy the fruits of their labour, while having the opportunity to further glean ideas from their well renowned tutors over a glass of Kronenburg or Magners Irish Cider.

Forrest Wines General Manger, Trevor Loomis, says “We’re really pleased that we could be involved with the team at The Great NZ Food Show. It gave us the opportunity to showcase the best in Marlborough wine to both show visitors as well as those taking part in some of the shows popular add-on events”.

Show Organiser, Michele Connell, was delighted with the weekend saying “Visitor numbers exceeded expectations for our first show, demonstrating New Zealanders passion for everything food. We couldn’t have done it without the support of all our sponsors and exhibitors, and look forward to bringing our second show back to Mystery Creek in May 2015”.
