New Zealand Secondary Schools - Day Two Summary

Day Two of the New Zealand Secondary Schools Netball Championship has concluded with the premier teams rising to the top with some outstanding performances at Arena Manawatu.
The competition moved into post-pool play in the afternoon with Mount Albert Grammar School topping Pool A, Manukura leading Pool B, St Margaret’s narrowly leading Pool C and St Mary’s College dominating Pool D earlier in the day.
One of the early thrillers was Southland Girls’ High School pipping Manukura 31-29 and in another close match, St Mary’s College from Wellington were too good for Auckland team Westlake Girls High School 34-29. Waimea College also notched up their first win of the competition with a rewarding 42-30 win over Newland’s College.
Mount Albert Grammar continue to assert their dominance at secondary school level with a 45-24 win over Wellington East Girls’ College late in the day with teams all vying for positions as the competition hits the halfway mark.
Thursday’s post-pool play is going to be fascinating with rivals St Mary’s College coming up against Wellington East Girls’ College at 1.00pm, while another one to watch tomorrow is the Manukura versus Sacred Heart Girls’ College match at the same time.

The NZ Secondary Schools Netball Championships, 2014 takes place from Tuesday 7th September to Friday 10th October at Arena Manawatu, Palmerston North.
