Sell-out on cards for NZ v England netball test

Locals are being urged to act quickly to secure tickets to this month’s netball test in Rotorua between the Silver Ferns and England, or risk missing out on seeing some of the world’s best netballers in action.

Events & Venues Rotorua general manager Peter McLeod says less than 500 of the Energy Event Centre’s 3,000 seats are left, with interest from outside of Rotorua proving very strong.

“A complete sell-out is on the cards, so locals who want to see two of the world’s three top netball nations on court, right here on their own doorstep, will need to move fast to secure their tickets.

“This match presents the perfect chance to watch our New Zealand players start their re-build, ahead of next year’s World Cup, following their tough just-completed series against the Aussies.”

The Silver Ferns take on England at Rotorua’s Energy Events Centre on Tuesday 28 October as part of the New World Netball Series. The two teams will also be competing for the Taini Jamison Trophy, named in honour of a well-known Rotorua netball identity.

Rotorua District Council’s Sports & Recreation portfolio lead, Councillor Charles Sturt, is also encouraging Rotorua residents to get in behind the test match.

“With our Energy Events Centre we’re fortunate to have a world class indoor facility for hosting top sports events. It’s a spectacular setting, with great viewing, and there’s always a lively, fun-filled family atmosphere whenever we get to host a top netball match here at home.

“We don’t get many chances like this on home ground, so whether you’re a die-hard Silver Ferns fan or your allegiance lies with England, let’s get out and support this major sports event,” says Mr Sturt.

Tickets for seats at the 28 October netball international at the Energy Events Centre in Rotorua are available in the $45 to $70 price range, and can be purchased from the Sir Howard Morrison Performing Arts Centre (formerly Rotorua Convention Centre).
