‘Kiss me quick – we’re millionaires!’

Media Release 22 October 2014

‘Kiss me quick – we’re millionaires!’

A young South Auckland family are looking forward to moving into the house of their dreams after becoming instant millionaires with Lotto First Division on Saturday.

The hardworking couple have had their eye on a house in their local area for several years, but never dreamed they would one day be able to call it their own.

“Every time we walked by the house we’d say how much we loved it – it’s beautiful and has everything our family needs,” said one of the winners.

“A couple of weeks ago we noticed a ‘for sale’ sign in front of the house. We mentioned to the owners how we always admired the place and they invited us in to have a look.

“As soon as we stepped through the door we knew it was the one – everything about it felt right.”

During their visit to the property, the soon-to-be winners joked with the owners that they’d come back to put in an offer when they won Lotto – little did they know that would happen just a couple of weeks later.

“I checked the ticket while I was out on Saturday night and couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw all the numbers on one line,” explained the winner.

“I rushed home and woke up my wife saying ‘Kiss me! Kiss me!’”

“I thought he’d gone mad,” laughed his wife.

“Then he told me the good news. Neither of us got much sleep after that – we just sat up together dreaming about all the things we can do now.”

“Top of the list is buying the house we love so much – the auction day feels a bit like Christmas!”

The winning ticket was purchased at Motorway Dairy and Lotto in Auckland.

Meanwhile, another Lotto player in Auckland is also a million dollars richer – but they don’t know it yet.

Lotto New Zealand is urging all players to check their Lotto tickets, with a $1 million prize still unclaimed on Auckland’s North Shore.

The winning ticket was purchased at Pam’s Corner Dairy in Glenfield for the 6 September draw.

Anyone who bought their ticket from the above winning store should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it immediately at any Lotto outlet, online atmylotto.co.nz or through the Lotto NZ ticket-checker app.
