Lead The Change for Franklin’s Youth

The Franklin Youth Advisory Board is calling for dedicated, enthusiastic applicants to join a group of like-minded leaders making their voices heard.

The Board gives feedback to the Franklin Local Board on policies and plans ranging from public transport to psychoactive substances. It also delivers events and projects with a focus on youth, community wellbeing, social issues and volunteering.

“Successful applicants will be strong leaders and passionate about their community,” says Olivia Leckner, Chairperson of the Franklin Youth Advisory Board. “We want to represent the diversity of Franklin’s young people.”

If selected, applicants can expect a year-long commitment and opportunities including mentoring, working with political and community leaders and building leadership skills. Taking part in Anzac Day and citizenship ceremonies and driving the planned Pukekohe Skate Park have been highlights this year.

Applicants with special skills such as social media and graphic design would be welcomed, says Ms Leckner. “We would love to hear from young writers, designers and photographers who could make a unique contribution.”

Applicants must be aged between 14 and 21; live or go to school in Franklin; and be able to attend monthly meetings in Pukekohe. Applications close on Monday, 24 November at 5:00pm.
