Thank you to the leaders of Volunteers across Aotearoa
Volunteering New Zealand (VNZ) is encouraging organisations to celebrate International Volunteer Managers Day (IVM) to be held next week on Wednesday 5 November.
“Managers of volunteers are essential to the success of organisations and their volunteer programs. IVM Day is a day to recognise the great work they do and give thanks for leading volunteers in our communities.” says Vanisa Dhiru, Chief Executive of VNZ.
“We thank managers of volunteers because without their foresight and vision we wouldn’t have such amazing volunteers in Aotearoa.”
“While volunteers are often the visible faces of their organisations and causes, beside them are the behind-the-scenes people who organise them: The Volunteer Managers. It’s easy to overlook or underestimate their hard work.” says Vanisa.
As we lead up to IVM Day, let’s think about and acknowledge why volunteer managers are so important. Everyone is encouraged to celebrate and thank those who manage and lead volunteers.
On the 5 November, VNZ will be releasing profiles of managers of volunteers online. These profiles will recognise the huge contribution and efforts volunteer managers do and give others the chance to appreciate their role.
