Art For Life Education

Wellington City Life Education Trust is hosting a one-off exhibition and sale of contemporary art Friday November 28 at The Academy of Fine Arts, Queens Wharf and tickets are now on sale.

The Exhibition is a major fundraising event for the charity and features over 200 works of art by a range of established New Zealand artists including Beverly Rhodes, Jordan Barnes, Lynne Sandri, and Neil Pardington.

Chairperson of Wellington City Life Education Trust, Jo Coughlan says the event has in the past raised more than $50,000 and they are hoping to exceed that amount this year.

“This is the third fundraising exhibition we’ve held for Wellington City Life Education Trust. It is a great chance to get a beautiful piece of New Zealand art while supporting the children of Wellington.”

Tickets are $150 plus GST or $1,500 for a table of 10 and can be purchased by contacting Jo Coughlan on 021 522 142 or jo@silvereyecomms.co.nz.

Life Education is a non-profit organisation. Each year, Life Education’s health based teaching programmes are brought to more than 200,000 pre-school and primary aged children in schools across New Zealand.

In Wellington alone, more than 5000 children annually experience the magic of Harold the Giraffe, and learn about what makes them special and unique.

In Wellington City the Trust requires fundraising of some $100,000 annually to ensure local children can experience the magic of the mobile classroom and the joy of learning with Harold the Giraffe.

Life Education is a preventative approach. Children are taught about the wonder of life, themselves, and other people.

Life Education works on changing desires. Its philosophy focuses on creating sensitivity to values, which leads to an understanding and appreciation of human life. This enables children to make decisions about any negative influences that might impede the development of their full potential.
