The Block NZ 2014 Finale is Ratings Winner
Series Sees Over 3 Million Tune In

The two-hour finale of TV3's ratings winner, The Block NZ was one of the most exciting television events of 2014 with 849,500 (5+ cume) New Zealanders tuned in during Friday's two-hour broadcast in which Alex and Corban Walls won the contest - and a life-changing $307,000 - after an action-packed auction broadcast LIVE on TV3.

The series has been a viewer favourite from the start and the finale, which saw Alex and Corban gift $30,000 of their prize money to fellow contestants Quinn and Ben, definitively won the Friday night slot, attracting an average television audience of 386,400 Kiwis (5+).

In the key 25-54 demographic, The Block NZ's two-hour finale had an average audience of 196,100, well ahead of the finale of My Kitchen Rules New Zealand's 154,300.

For the first time, this year's season of The Block NZ gave viewers four episodes per week, with fantastic results as 3,125,400 (5+ cume) viewers tuned in to the season, gaining 178,300 more viewers than the 2013 series.

3NOW video on-demand figures currently show 974,500 streams of this season, with further uptake expected, which is a 94 per cent increase on last season's 501,261 streams. The finale saw 40,000 unique viewers watching in their own time via 3NOW on-demand. During the two-hour show the social media hashtag #theblocknz trended at #1 on Twitter in New Zealand.

The Block NZ was produced by Eyeworks Television for TV3. Broadcast sponsor is Bunnings Warehouse, with programme partners Kiwibank, Honda and Wild Bean Cafe.
