Smoke Studios has the X-Factor

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tuesday, November 18, 2014
Auckland

Bourgeoning production house Smoke Studios has the X-Factor.

The Auckland-based collective will produce the live tracks for the iconic show’s second New Zealand season.

Boasting a trophy cabinet of local talent, Smoke Studios is home to Goldcertified songwriter Dave Baxter (Avalanche City), VNZMA-award winning songwriter/producer Sam de Jong, industry stalwart Nic Manders and Los Angeles based pop wunderkind Leroy Clampitt.

Carrying the production load are producers Sam de Jong and Nic Manders.

Lead producer Sam de Jong is no stranger to the X-Factor family, having spent 2014 working with a slew of first season alumni. De Jong produced winner Jackie Thomas’ platinum-selling debut, as well as runner-up Whenua Patuwai’s debut album ‘The Soul Sessions’, which made an entry at #4 on the NZ Top 20. He also produced fan-favourite Benny Tipene’s #1 radio single ‘Make You Mine’ as well as his debut album ‘Bricks’, which entered the NZ Top 20 at #1. De Jong also co-wrote and produced ‘Runaway’, the collaboration between judges Ruby Frost and Stan Walker.

Producer Nic Manders takes home the prize for liner note mentions. As one of New Zealand’s most renowned producers, he’s worked with most of the industry’s national treasures. Open up Brooke Fraser’s 7x Platinum debut ‘What to Do With Daylight’ and he’ll be staring you right in the face. He’s also a cracker commercial guy, having composed for NZ Herald, Sky TV and many more.
