A Fairy Tale Christmas at Expressions

25 November 2014

A Fairy Tale Christmas at Expressions

Join Santa after the Upper Hutt Christmas Parade for a Fairy Tale Christmas at Expressions. Expressions will be transformed into an enchanted world filled with magical fairies and mysterious elves and Christmas cheer. Visitors will be able to dress up and have their photo taken with Santa in the magical grotto, experience a beautiful nativity scene, make a sparkle dust star and other Christmas crafts and soak up the sights and sounds of the season with magical music, Christmas circus acts, and other fairy tale treats… all for free.

Some of the acts include the Ukulele Institute who will share some Christmas Ukulele songs, a nine piece travelling Brass Band ‘Niko Na Zna’ and folk singer Amiria Grennel as the Christmas Fairy. There will also be some of performers from the Christmas Parade joining Expressions after the parade, bouncy castles and food stalls, and free face painting. The whole area will be transformed with over 20 Christmas trees into an enchanted scene with lots of hands on activities and things to make and do.

The main attraction will be the photo with Santa, with dress ups provided and by partnering with the Amazing Travelling Photo Booth visitors will be able to have their photo taken and then take it home with them instantly, as a precious Christmas memory of the day. Expressions Director Leanne Wickham explains that the day was developed in conjunction with Upper Hutt City Council and with funding from Pelorous Trust, in response to feedback from the community saying that the parade was over too quickly. “This way” she says “the people of Upper Hut can celebrate Christmas together after the parade, for free, in a fun a family friendly environment making a day of it”.
