Mondiale Aces stick with same 13

The Mondiale Auckland Aces have picked an unchanged 13 players for their crucial clash with the Canterbury Kings this afternoon in Christchurch.

The game is the first of successive clashes with the Kings, as they face them again on Saturday in Napier.

The games are crucial for both teams with victories in both almost assuring the winner a place in the semi-finals, whereas two defeats would spell the end of the road for the loser.

The Mondiale Aces come into the match after a mixed weekend in Wellington where they made short work of the hosts on the Friday night but then fell to an inspired Stags bowling performance on theSaturday night.

Consistency of performance is what coach Mark O’Donnell is looking for from his side.

“For certain games, and in patches of games, we’ve played exceptionally well. What we’ve been unable to do is back up a great performance with another of the same quality. We’ve got three games in four days so we know that we’ve got to produce that consistency to make the semis.”

A team for the game that starts at 4.30pm this afternoon at Hagley Oval, will be named from the following 13 players:

Rob Nicol (Captain)
Dean Bartlett
Michael Bates
Brad Cachopa
Carl Cachopa
Craig Cachopa
Lockie Ferguson
Donovan Grobbelaar
Anaru Kitchen
Tarun Nethula
Robbie O’Donnell
Matt Quinn
Luke Wright
