Music Foundation launches "Golden Ticket" appeal

Music Foundation launches "Golden Ticket" appeal

Charity Golden Ticket appeal to give lucky winner a double pass to 4 international acts this summer

The New Zealand Music Foundation has launched its Christmas appeal to supporters with a competition to win the ultimate music prize of the summer: The Golden Ticket.

One person will take away four double passes to four epic shows: The Foo Fighters, Ed Sheeran, Johnny Marr and Drake. With The Foo Fighters playing in Christchurch and Auckland, and Ed Sheeran playing Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland, the winner will be able to choose the show they would most like to attend from each artist.

Ed Sheeran's arena dates are already sold out and the others are selling fast. The Golden Ticket will be one of the only ways that remain for fans to have the opportunity to see all of the artists.

The public can enter online here. The Golden Ticket will be drawn and the winner notified on Christmas Eve as the ultimate live music Christmas present.

The New Zealand Music Foundation's General Manager, Peter Dickens, hopes that the appeal will raise much needed funds and raise the profile of the charity.

Dickens says: "This is a fabulous prize that really speaks to the spirit of the charity. It's music changing the life of a lucky fan in the way that the music-based projects we support change the lives of people in need all over New Zealand."

The 4 shows will treat the winner to each of these artists at the very peak of their powers.

The Foo Fighters Sonic Highways Tour will see the band playing dates in Auckland and Christchurch. They’re bringing many of their mammoth stadium anthems as well as soon to be classics from Sonic Highways. Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear are in their finest form yet and on the Sonic Highways tour, the band and their fans the world over will make these gigs an unforgettable celebration of 20 years of Foo Fighters.

Ed Sheeran will be the first musician in twenty years to undertake a headline national arena tour completely solo. Accompanied on stage by only a loop pedal and his trusty acoustic guitar, his ability to fill even the biggest of rooms is testament to his unique talent and appeal as a live performer. Already sold out,The New Zealand Music Foundation Golden Ticket 2014 is one of the only ways you can get to see this fantastic event.

Johnny Marr is one the most celebrated guitarists in the world. A founding member of cultural institution The Smiths and performer alongside the likes of Modest Mouse, Beck, Talking Heads, The The and Oasis, Marr was already rock royalty before releasing his Top 10 debut solo album The Messenger in February 2013. Armed to the teeth with classics and his own lauded solo works, when Johnny Marr hits these shores this summer the shows promise to be exhilarating displays of talent from a revered virtuoso.

Drake sits at the nucleus of the worldwide rap and R&B worlds. It’s hard to think of another artist in recent history who has so successfully ridden the lines between out-and-out international megastar and critical darling. Drake brings with him an extensive production that is nothing short of spectacular with a show that includes pyrotechnics, fire, lasers, extensive lighting, sound systems and so much more.

The New Zealand Music Foundation was started in 2012 to support music-based projects across the country that change the lives of those in need, and to provide emergency assistance to members of the New Zealand music community who find themselves experiencing hardship, illness or distress. In their last support round in September, The Foundation provided assistance to eight projects in five towns and cities around New Zealand, benefiting over 15,000 people.
