Graphic Novel component for 2015 Mentorship Programme

MEDIA RELEASE – For Immediate Release

16 December 2014

NZ Society of Authors introduces Graphic Novel component to its 2015 Mentorship Programme

The NZ Society of Authors Mentor Programme 2015 is now open for applications and for the first time comic book writers and graphic novelists can also apply!

The programme seeks applications from writers and graphic novelists who are looking for professional development, a safe space to discuss their work, intellectual community, role models, accountability and substantive feedback.

NZSA has added to an already impressive list of writer mentors 14 graphic novel mentors including Dylan Horrocks, Rae Joyce and Ant Sang. The mentorship programme gives beginning or emerging writers and graphic novelists, who demonstrate potential and commitment, the opportunity to work closely with an experienced writer or graphic novelist mentor in order to hone their writing and illustration skills. In the process, mentees get the opportunity to take a piece of work from the early stages to a polished manuscript with potential for publication.

The NZSA mentorship programme is made possible thanks to funding from Creative NZ and is open for applications until 9 February 2015.
